YET

YET In 1993, the National Football League (NFL) developed the Youth Education Town (YET) Centers as a means to foster community development and restoration through sports. The YETs are established in Super Bowl cities, bestowing a legacy from the game that remains long after the fans depart.

The NFL was inspired to create the YET Program just prior to Super Bowl XXVII after the Los Angeles civil disturbances revealed the need for hope, restoration and community outreach. The NFL sought ways to impact the nation's communities in a meaningful and lasting way after the games were played in a host city. Since that time, the NFL challenges each Super Bowl host city to create a YET in underserved areas. To assist this endeavor, the NFL donates $1 million annually toward each project. Each host city is required to match the NFL's donation through local, public and private donations.

Today, there are 15 YETs throughout the country, two of which were built in Tampa following Super Bowl XXXV. These two YETs are designed to meet the needs of neighborhood youth, providing educational assistance, personal development, technical training, life skills development and recreational outlets.

There are several ongoing programs at NFL YET of Tampa Bay.
